The play reveals the experiences of a family sitting around a table in the semi-darkness between nine in the evening and midnight. Each of them waits all night for the blind grandfather and the nun, who is the father's sister. In the next room lies the sick mother, who has just had a difficult birth, and everyone is worried about her. Although family members try to forget the fear they feel through daily conversations, as the light fades with each passing hour, cold winds blow through the open windows. During the play, no one except the grandfather sees danger approaching and an uninvited guest wandering around the stage. When the clock strikes midnight, it becomes clear that the intruder is actually death.
