The Rhythm of Folk Dance Echoes in the Heart of History
11.07.2026
The pop-up performances held as part of the 38th International Golden Karagöz (Altın Karagöz) Folk Dance Competition, organized by the Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation (BKSTV) under the leadership of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, this time brought the rhythm of dance to the Historic Khans District, the very heart of Bursa.
Taking place in the Historic Khans District, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the performances combined the historic atmosphere with the melodies of different cultures, offering audiences unforgettable moments.
On the fourth day of the event, teams from Serbia, Algeria and South Korea took the stage in the Khans District to present their countries' traditional folk dances, while the Nilüfer Municipality Nilüfer Folk Dance Ensemble, the Nazende Dance Academy Sports Club and the Ulu Yıldızlar Performance Ensemble of the Mustafakemalpaşa Education, Culture and Solidarity Association (PAŞADER) added further color to the shows with their performances.
With its historic fabric, the Historic Khans District is one of Bursa's most important landmarks, and the moments in which dancers performing as part of the International Golden Karagöz Folk Dance Competition appeared in the same frame as Bursa's historic skyline were among the most striking images of the festival.
